Writing inspirations – the 1930s as we would wish them to be

Today’s writing inspiration is another of my art deco pictures – a style of which I am a huge fan.

I took this during the 2014 Art Deco weekend in Napier, New Zealand – a celebration not just of the styles of a bygone age, but of the magic of the day; of the 1930s not as they were, but as we would wish them to be. An inspiring thought.

    1. Thanks! It’s an utterly fantastic event, that art deco weekend – really an excuse for virtually every 1930s car owner in New Zealand to gather up in one place, along with a lot of restored WWII aircraft – i including P-51’s and Spitfires – which spend the weekend buzzing the town. There’s nothing like having your morning coffee interrupted by the roar of a couple of Merlins!

  1. Gorgeous pictures of the dream! Are they inspiring a particular piece of your own writing (coughcoughNovemberNovel)? No pressure. But all too often writing a dream takes the magic out of the whole thing. Or filming a written dream… aka latest Gatsby… don’t get me started…. ps: loved your last comment on my blog!!
