This week’s writing challenge revolves around a photo I took of the wharf at Petone at the north end of Port Nicholson, New Zealand, with the capital city Wellington spread out around the hills beyond.
Use the photo to inspire a 150-200 word super-short story – a proper one, with beginning, middle, end and punchline (all super-short stories gotta have a punchline) – and post it on your blog, with the prompt photo and a link back to this blog for others to pick up and join in the fun. of course the story can be about anything.
This beach was where the first New Zealand Company settlers reached New Zealand in February 1840. They actually landed a little back from where I am standing – thanks to earthquakes in 1848 and 1855, the beach has moved southwards a little in the last 165-odd years.
