This week’s short story challenge is a photo I took of a DC-3 under restoration at Hood Aerodrome, Masterton, New Zealand, in late 1987.
Use the photo to inspire a 150-200 word super-short story – a proper one, with beginning, middle, end and punchline (all super-short stories gotta have a punchline) – and post it on your blog, with the prompt photo and a link back to this blog for others to pick up and join in the fun. Of course the story can be about anything.
The DC-3 was repainted as a C-47 in ‘invasion’ colours – olive drab with prominent black-and-white stripes on the wings, as used for D-Day in 1944. Although, strictly speaking, it wasn’t a C-47, it appeared at air shows around New Zealand for years in that guise before being repainted, quite recently, in its original RNZAF DC-3 transport livery. If you want to learn more about the RNZAF, check out my book Kiwi Air Power, available on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Kiwi-Air-Power-history-Military-ebook/dp/B00TL7PFBW/
