Someone once said that English doesn’t just borrow words from other languages, it mugs other languages in dark alleys and goes through their pockets. A lot of English words are quite obscure and deserve better attention than they get. This week’s is écorché.
An écorché is a painting or model of a human with the skin removed. Think those ‘Visible Man/Woman’ kits you could get a few decades back. Um… ewww…
