The obscure word of the week is snubber

It sounds like it might be the epithet of someone who snubs – and might actually be if we’re creative enough with English, which just soaks up socially-mediated changes in meaning. But just now, according to the OED, it is a type of shock absorber, or an electrical circuit intended to suppress power spikes.
