The obscure word of the week is abashed

This week’s obscure English word is abashed. It’s somewhat archaic and means ’embarrassed’. The more common word today is ‘unabashed’, as in not embarrassed – one of a number of English words where the original term has fallen out of use, but its negative remains with us.
