My book Pacific War: New Zealand and Japan 1941-45 – a brief history of New Zealand’s Pacific experiences during the Second World War, is being republished as part of a new military series. This time you’ll be able to get it instantly, on Kindle.
I wrote this book in 2002-03, and it was originally published in late 2003 by Reed NZ Ltd. The new cover features a good luck flag – a hinomaru yosegaki – picked up by my grandfather on Nissan Island, where he served with 3 NZ Division in early 1944 alongside a US stores unit led by someone named Richard M. Nixon.
Yes – that Richard M. Nixon.
This new edition is available at an introductory price of $US 4.99 and marks the first time it’s been available in over a decade. It follows the re-issue of six earlier titles in my military history series. Don’t forget to check ’em out – here. If you haven’t got a Kindle, you can get a reader for whatever device you own, here.

Striking cover! Why did you decide to use a Japanese flag, with nothing other than the subtitle to indicate New Zealand’s role?

Glad you like the cover! I do too. Apropos the design – the answer’s worth a blog post because it’s actually my way of dealing with one of the key challenges authors often don’t realise they face with books. Posting tomorrow morning!
